Aiz Research

Whitepaper

Aiz is a research program building an agent that works locally on your machine and in the cloud. The product goal is durable work: projects, memory, and tools that stay with you across sessions.

Local first

Desktop runs a trusted shell and Python runtime on your Mac. You open a project folder; Aiz inspects, edits, tests, and debugs inside that boundary. Provider keys stay in Keychain.

Model access

Aiz will support two modes: prepaid Aiz Credits for managed inference, and BYOK for users who connect their own provider keys. They coexist — no monthly subscription is required for managed inference. Beta today uses BYOK OpenAI on Desktop; Aiz Credits are planned, not yet available.

Cloud workspace

The web app syncs conversations, projects, and memory when you sign in. BYOK credentials stay per device (Keychain on Desktop, encrypted vault on Web). Account link connects Desktop history without moving provider secrets to the server.

Beta scope

Current releases target Apple Silicon macOS only. Builds are ad-hoc signed and not yet notarized. Aiz Desktop is a macOS product; Windows and Linux Desktop are intentionally out of scope.
